There is more than one artist with this name:
1. The solo career of Jenn Ghetto from the United States. Jenn was co-leader of Seattle's Carrissa's Wierd.
2. The artist name of Steven Simpson, a music producer and alternative hip-hop artist born in Nova Scotia. He now lives in Toronto, Canada
3. A trio from Korean.
4. A visual Rock act formed in 1998
1)S is the solo career of Jenn Ghetto; co-leader of Seattle's sorely missed Carissa's Wierd. On her second full-length record, Puking and Crying, Ghetto together with Josh Wackerly and Creighton Barrett, collect dark and hauntingly intimate songs, surely classified as organic even with the strange electronics, drum loops, blips and clicks involved. Puking and Crying has an up-close feel to it, a direct look into the songwriter.
2)S (born Steven Simpson in Nova Scotia) is a Canadian music producer and Hip-Hop artist. S made his first song using the cool edit and fruity loop combo that has introduced many of the next-generation producers to making music. Upgrading every aspect of his work including writing, performance, producing and his gear set-up, the self-produced S has been guiding himself though the sometimes-unrewarding Canadian Music Industry. Leaving a career in Radio to pursue his music full time, he traveled from his home in Nova Scotia to the city of Toronto. S has produced years of beats, which he uses as the main export of his own company Late Night Sound.
As an artist S has built himself to a moment where he is confident about everything he touches. A combined method of writing and recoding has lead to some of the most creative songs to come from the new generation of Canadian songwriters. S was always set on being a producer, but still would rap on the odd forgotten beat. With the streaming release of “Got a Love Woman” S seen his iLike.com page go from a modest 2300 fans to 21000 fans in a matter of days with many adding his music on to their Facebook profiles. S is following up the success of “Got a Love Woman” by releasing the song for download along with some of his latest work.
Never to Forever
S has recently completed the Never to Forever EP, online only at Amazon and iTunes in October 2008.
3) S is also a Korean trio with members Kang Ta, Lee Ji Hoon and Shin Hye Sung (of Shinhwa). S stands for "Supreme". They released their debut album, Fr.in.Cl, in September 2003 and in 2005 they participated with the new song 숨 (Breath) on the soundtrack for the Korean movie April Snow.
4) S is a Visual Rock band that formed in 1998 by O-Zekki (later on changed to Zekki-) on bass and Yuna and Itsuki (whose name used to be Luka) on guitar. All three were ex. R'via and left the aforementioned group to create their own basic visual group "with plenty of makeup and bondage wear." The three met Reina (dr) at college and, through a mutual friend, met Miyamichi (vo). With his arrival, the first lineup of S was now set.
