There is more than one band called Infected.
1. Infected is a band from Sinzig, Germany, who defines their style as modern death metal. Up to now the 5 friends released one EP titled "Coma". The Line-Up consists of Nico Kaden (vocals), Marcel Sonnenberg (guitar), Christoph Mönch (drums), Marcel Pinger (bass) and Malte Müller (guitar). Infected was founded in 2004 but a few changes in the line-up were to follow. But since 2005 the current line-up has not been changed except for Malte Müller, who joined the band in 2008.
Style A fixed metal subgenre does not exist for Infected. In the early days the style was heavily influenced by 80's and early 90's thrash metal. But music style and songwriting gradually changed into a melodic death variety inspired by bands like In Flames and Soilwork. Nevertheless, in the more recent songs all invisible fences and walls in the head were thrown away. In these songs elements of progressive music and ballads are reflected as well as death metal influences, often all of them in one song. A further trademark of Infected are the vocals of singer Nico, who changes between agressive growling and screaming and a clean singing style, reminiscent of HIM. The lyrical scope varies from complete bollocks as in "Almdudler" up to socio-critical songs such as "Liar".
Live Infected gained reputation through playing supra-regional gigs and sharing the stage with bands like Hatedrive (DE), Das Scheit (DE), President Evil (DE) and Torture Squad (BR). A striking feature is their passionate and powerful stage presence. Their show is a blast, and the five guys always give free rein to their passion and fun while playing, whether they are playing aggressive and demanding death metal blasts, midtempo steamrollers or feeling ballads.
EP "Coma" Around the turn of the years 2006/2007 the first and only EP "Coma“ was recorded with the aid and advice of Sven Gäb (Hatedrive, SinSick). It was released in 2007 on GPosse Records. On it the old thrash style is still audible, because a representative slice through the hitherto written songs was intended. In 2009 the band is again hitting the studio in order to record a new EP with new and representative material.
